Frequently Asked Questions
What file format do you accept?
We accept standard .GPX route files. Export your planned track from apps like Navionics, Aqua Map, iNavX, TimeZero, or OpenCPN.
Where do I send my route?
Email your GPX to get@forecastmyroute.com. Include planned departure time and boat speed if known.
How fast do forecasts arrive?
Fast. Usually within minutes.
What does the forecast include?
Leg-by-leg wind direction and speed, wave height and period, and temperature observations along your route, aligned to your ETA at each segment.
How accurate is it?
Very. We sample along your actual track and time-interpolate conditions. Forecast quality depends on model skill and local effects. Use conservatively and cross-check with official sources.
Can I choose units?
Yes. In My Account, set wind (kt), distance (nm), and temperature (°C/°F), plus default boat speed.
Why 'Forecast My Route'?
We keep it simple. You want to cruise out to the Cape on Saturday in your boat that averages about 5.5 knots, we let you know exactly what wind and water to expect so you can plan accordingly.
What about safety?
Our service supports your planning but is not a substitute for official marine forecasts, notices to mariners, or prudent seamanship. Always maintain a watch and have contingency plans.
